Margarita Mamun beat Yana Kudryavtseva in Kazan.
The Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro are taking place very soon. Rhythmic gymnasts make this event really intriguing. At the last World Cup in Kazan Margarita Mamun was a real star. She beat the three-time world champion, Yana Kudryavtseva, in the All-around event.
Margarita Mamun won the All-around titles at the last four World Cups. It is also necessary to mention that Yana Kudryavtseva was absent at two of these events. These two great Russian champions managed to face each other only at the European Championships in Holon.
Yana Kudryavtseva’s performance with clubs was weak. This turned out to be one of the reasons why Margarita Mamun dominated her by 1.1 point margin. If these two gymnasts are selected for Rio, there will be an exciting and spectacular competition between two friends.
The podium in Kazan was completed by Alexandra Soldatova. The Korean gymnast, Son Yeon Jae, took the fourth place. Melitina Staniouta from Belarus took the fifth place.
Adding to the All-around title, Mamun won the finals with the clubs and ribbon, and took silver with the ball and bronze with the hoop, while Kudryavtseva won the latter two finals and sat out the ribbon final.
